We understand your concerns over the rumour of a retrenchment exercise and victimization of employees who give their honest opinion in the GPS after the Bank secures the desired results from the survey.
On 30.6.2009, we asked the Bank for an assurance that the rumour of a retrenchment exercise and victimization of employees was just a rumour.
By way of letters dated 1.7.2009 and 14.7.2009, HSBC has given us the assurance as follows:
- All answers and opinions given will be completely confidential and thus, no employees can be “victimized” for the opinions they express.
- There are no plans for a retrenchment exercise involving our members (i.e. Clericals, non-Clericals and Customer Service Bankers) after the completion of the GPS which ends on 22 July 2009.
In light of the Bank’s assurance, we encourage you to participate in the Global People Survey and give your honest feedback.
