Nube has written to ABM to provide facial mask to all employees of the Bank to avoid being inflicted with the deadly virus. We also encourage the Bank to provide facial mask to customers who come and perform banking functions. This exercise is to ensure the banking industry is also seen as playing an important role to prevent Malaysians from being inflicted with the virus.

Though we have received reports from our members that some banks have sent out internal memos directing branches to buy hand sanitizers but it is sad to say that it is not strictly observed. We have also received a report that a local Bank is discouraging the employees from wearing facial mask to avoid creating unnecessary panic or send a wrong message to the public.

We are not sure whether it is the stand taken by all banks or only one local bank. In view of the 8^th death and 1446 cases in Malaysia, NUBE has decided not to take any chances and cannot risk our members or the customers of the Bank. We hope the Banks will take the advice of “Prevention is better than cure”.
