The mind is the leader of all actions. Our actions are a direct result of our thoughts.
If we have a negative thought in our mind, we will have a negative life. Likewise, if we have a positive thought in our mind, we will have a positive life. Essentially, we must think properly, because our thoughts are powerful combined with the fact that they have creative ability.
Some questions arising from our common fears that keep coming into our mind, whilst new Covid-19 cases are increasing in Malaysia, and Malaysians are dying daily, include, “Are we safe to report to work?” and “Will our jobs be safe?”
As bank workers, we are in the essential services and it is important that during this pandemic we perform our roles to serve the bank customers and the public, with excellence and integrity. If we compare with other front liners who are in direct contact with Covid-19 patients, in reality, they carry more risks than we do.
Strengthening our immunity must be our priority at any cost and strict compliance to SOPs whether you are vaccinated or choose not to get vaccinated as it will keep us healthy and safe. It is our duty to also ensure our family members, neighbours, customers and colleagues do the same and comply with all logical SOPs so that we are all not infected.
Some members are worried of certain banks trying to reduce the workforce through various forms of manipulation. Fortunately, most banks value the services and sacrifices of the workforce except for a few who try to bewilder and exploit the pandemic in the name of malice innovation. We hope these banks who thrives on the misery of poor workers will realise that their actions will do not good for the nation, the bank and their conscience.
Certainly, this pandemic has taught everyone that the life and the happiness we have at this moment, as we read this article, is more valuable than being thrilled by inflicting pain in the poor workers’ life.
As members of NUBE, all of you are protected, and the leadership will take all appropriate steps to instil in such employer’s ethical business, the priority of stress-free, healthy, living and valuing life during this pandemic.
Remember, do not bombard your mind with fears, worries and anxieties. Instead bombard it with happiness, peace and freedom and these will keep you away from depression and anxiety. Gain control of your mind with thoughts of confidence, happiness, peace and victory in every moment of your daily life and do not let any circumstances of the day ruin it.
Remember our 1st Principle in the Rukun Negara: “Believe in God”, and your faith will give you victory in your battlefield of the mind.
