Over 1200 dedicated union leaders from 109 countries all around the world gathered in Philadelphia, 27-30 August 2023, to build a stronger global labour movement and set UNI’s course for the next four years.
UNI World President Ruben Cortina kicks off the 6th World Congress.
The opening ceremony was indeed inspired by the speeches from Senator Bernie Sanders, Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney, Christy Hoffman, UNI General Secretary and other leaders.
Day two 28 August 2023, started with approval of Agenda and standing orders
Building union power for all by respecting workers' rights is non-negotiable, and Uni is on a mission to hold corporations accountable around the world.
UNI are rising together to change the rules for a just and inclusive global economy.
The highlight of the day was UNI organised rally to support workers from the cleaning sector to obtain their rights to better pay and the right to negotiate.
Day three 29 August 2023, continues with the discussion rising together against inequality, racism and discrimination. Decent work in a digital
age and rising together for health and safety.
Unionists from all over the world join picketing with SEIU 32BJ as they fight for a fair contract. Their sacrifices as a cleaners during the pandemic must be acknowledged with contracts that uphold dignity and protect families.
30 August 2023 is the last day of the conference, they continues with a sharing of peace, democracy and human rights and uniting for a sustainable world.
