22.5.2018, Colombo, Sri Lanka – NUBE Malaysia represented by Deputy President Bro Abdul Jamil Haji Jalaludeen participated in the APRO monitoring committee meeting which consist of representatives from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. At the inaugural session, he delivered a speech highlighting the challenges face by Trade Unions especially with the introduction of Industry 4.0 - digitalisation and automation which can foresee effecting badly on job losses hence replaced by robots.
He also said Trade Union globally will need to explore further and start working in a collectively manner in order to stop the advent of technology coming in and taking over workers job functions. He also urged all trade union leaders to keep the solidarity strength together, to fight against the technology advancement and to ensure job security protected for all workers.
NUBE will continue to look forward working with WFTU and continuing support and co-operation in all efforts to shared commitment to justice, equity, respect for human and trade union rights.
Towards end of his speech, he took the opportunity on behalf of NUBE Malaysia and as WFTU Head of the West Asia-Pacific Sub-Regional Office to extent greatest best wishes for the meeting proper and great continuous success forever.
