On 18th of June 2018 NUBE travelled to Liverpool to join together with 2000 participants from all over the world to bid farewell to the great leader and friend of NUBE for over 38 years.
UNI Global had a dedicated leader who profusely gave leadership as its General Secretary for a period of 18 years and he was also the General Secretary of FIET prior to UNI Global was formed.
Certainly, NUBE will miss him since he has always maintained a good relationship with NUBE. We presented to him a momentum of the Star of David in recognition of his bravery to speak for Workers.
Before a massive packed congress hall in Liverpool, Jennings spoke from the bottom of his heart about his personal journey which had not simply taken him from Cardiff to Switzerland but also to all the hot-spots of the world such as Colombia and Palestine. He did truly become the global warrior for workers' rights.
Jennings being 65 years old has contributed immensely to UNI and we are confident the he will continue to be the ambassador for Workers in ILO.
We wish him good health and every success in his endeavours to consistently serving the worker population of the world.
Bro Phillip was also accompanied by his parents, sisters, wife and children who was also present in this historical event and NUBE was fortunate to have a chat with them.
His nominated successor, Christy Hoffman was unanimously endorsed as the 2nd General Secretary of UNI Global Union at the said Congress who has all the capability to lead UNI to make it happen for the best interest of Workers affiliated with UNI.
