At a time when some banks making huge profits are looking at ways to lay off workers especially B40 workers, Public Bank has emerged as an exception.
NUBE welcomes Public Bank’s move in taking the lead to up-skill Non-Clerical workers by incorporating customer service functions to their existing job description instead of choosing to outsourcing.
NUBE feels that this is an excellent humanising move to empower and up-skill Non-Clerical grades and managing the resistance to change all at the same time.
Hearing NUBE’s call on banks to protect and preserve the job security and livelihood of the B40 workers in the bank; Public Bank implemented this initiative within 3 months.
NUBE General Secretary met the Non-Clericals from the selected pilot project branches to clarify their concerns and encouraged them on the empowerment initiative.
This is a project by Public Bank to enable all Non-Clerical to excel together with the bank.
The other bank that is also taking the lead in preserving and protecting jobs is Maybank Bhd which is encouraging.
