It's just one word, but it sums up what members of NUBE want to express - Congratulations!
NUBE President/Branch secretary of SMJ Brother Tan Eng Hong has successfully completed and passed the First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation examination conducted by the Red Crescent Society of Malaysia.
He has been awarded with a certificate of proficiency in first-aid and as provided for under the Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) Guidelines in First Aid in the Workplace (2nd Edition), Brother Tan will be able to render First Aid at a workplace during an emergency with minimal equipment until appropriate medical personnel arrive.
Section 15(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514) provides that every employer must ensure, so far as is practicable, the safety, health and welfare at work of all employees. The provision of first-aid facilities and first-aiders is in compliance with the welfare component of this general duty of employers and self-employed persons.
Well done Brother Tan and we hope you will be a source of inspiration for more employees to attend and successfully complete the course to become a first-aider.
