BATU PAHAT, 26 June: NUBE SMJ organised one day Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Seminar in Batu Pahat, yesterday for NUBE members in Johor.
One of the objectives of the seminar is to create awareness on OSH – a statutory requirement in the workplace under the OSH Act, and also the new amendments of the Act.
Apart from Sections and Regulations of the OSH Act, the seminar covered topics such as Guidelines for Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC), Hazard Identification, Risk Control, and Notification of Accident, Dangerous Occurrence, Occupational Poisoning and Occupational Disease (NADAPOD).
Thirty-one participants took part in the seminar. According to the feedback received the participants were excited and interested as it was a new learning experience.
At the end of the seminar, the participants were able to identify hazard, conduct HIRARC and apply the risk control at their workplace.
The seminar was conducted by SMJ Branch Secretary, Bro Tan Eng Hong, who is also NUBE President, recently attended a three-day seminar on OSH at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
