It must be acknowledged that Malaysia is one out of 28 countries that provides free public transport in the World.
This is a commendable move by some states here. However, this services do not benefit the larger population of Malaysian workers compared to the foreign workers.
Therefore, such facilities should also be extended to school children as it will lessen the burden of paying for school busses by working parents.
Another worry is the repayment of PTPTN when youths remain unemployed or have other immediate basic requirements such as housing loan repayment.
This was an issue raised by many Union members during our visit to meet up with them.
BARISAN MANTAP MTUC when elected, will endeavor for free school busses and a review of the PTPTN to relief the workers and the youth.
